Microsoft Outlook Express

To set up Microsoft Outlook Express with Runbox Mail Manager, follow the step-by-step instructions below. Please note that the setup process and dialog boxes on your computer may vary from what is shown here, depending on what version of Microsoft Windows and Outlook Express you are using (these instructions apply directly to Outlook Express 6 on a Windows XP platform).

1. Start Outlook Express using for instance the Start menu. Click Tools in the toolbar at the top of your screen, and select Accounts. You will get a dialog box similar to this (if you have no previous email accounts the dialog boxes will differ slightly from these). Click Add on the top right hand side, and then Mail. This will start the Internet Connection Wizard where you enter the necessary information.

2. In the dialog box that appears, enter your name as you want it to appear in all your outgoing email messages. Click Next to continue.

3. Enter your Runbox email address consisting of your username and Runbox domain in username@runboxREMOVETHESELETTERS.com format.

4. Select POP3 from the drop-down list at the top of the dialog box. Then enter pop.runbox.com in the field for Incoming mail server, and smtp.runbox.com as Outgoing mail server. Click Next to continue.

5. In the Account name field, enter your Runbox username, and your password in the Password field. Leave the box for Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) unchecked.

6. Click Finish to save the data you have entered.

7. The new Outlook account will appear in the Internet Accounts window as "pop.runbox.com". With the new account selected, click the Set as Default button to the right (this will make your Runbox email address appear automatically on your outgoing email messages). With the new account selected, click the Properties button to the right.

8. Runbox now uses SMTP authentication to secure our server against abuse. To specify this, click Servers tab.

9. Check the box for My server requires authentication, and click Connection tab.

10. Select the way in which you connect to the Internet; by your phone line, a local area network, or manually. Please consult your Internet Service Provider or your system administrator for more information. Click the Advanced tab.

11. Many Internet Service Providers block port 25. Therefore, it is recommended to change the value in the field for Outgoing mail (SMTP) to 26, and click OK. This will return back to the Internet Accounts window. You have now successfully set up Outlook to retrieve email from Runbox.

The set up of Outlook Express with Runbox Mail Manager is now complete. If you later want to change the information you entered, select the "pop.runbox.com" account from the Internet Accounts window and click Properties.
